Ajo, Arizona

From three green hills where copper lay in wait,
to a dusty mining town filled with hopes, dreams, and fate,
there was a copper giant, awakened from his sleep,
to create a Plaza, school, and shops built along the many streets.

Today the same familiar streets lead
friends and families to meet and greet.
The surrounding desert that gave up the copper is still the same.
140 years have passed, with flora and fauna beyond compare
sunrises and sunsets that make one stop and stare.

So, stop, sit, and rest awhile.
Say hi to those you meet, and think back on those days long ago,
and enjoy our town of Ajo.
